This section is meant to highlight academic papers or projects that I have completed that have value to me. These projects helped me strengthen skills that I needed to become a better worker in the healthcare field.
Book Club Discussion
In my Healthcare Ethics class, we were assigned to read an book in relation to ethics in the healthcare system, and apply healthcare ethics terms and concepts to our discussion assignment. The book I chose to read is the "The spirit Catches You and You Fall Down" by Anne Fadiman. This book talks about a Hmong child who experiences frequent seizures going through the healthcare system, and how her Hmong parents navigate through the healthcare system. The book and the discussion assignment really challenged me to apply the terms and concepts to a real life scenario. This assignment also helped me to strengthen my personable skills, as I know that I will have to interact with patients from all backgrounds at some point in my healthcare career.
Excel Assignments
In my healthcare finance class, we had to complete excel asssignments where we would create and analyze a financial statement for that specific hospital. Doing these assignments helped me better analyze financial statements of a hospital, and it also helped strengthen my knowledge and proficiency in using excel.
